The Lika is an untouched, mountainous region in Croatia, not far from Adriac Sea. The name comes from the word “Lik”, which in the local dialect means medicine, because of the abundance of wild plants found in the area used for their healing properties. Also, the word “Likos” with means wolf and could refer to the many and impressive animals of the land.
Bordering the area of Lika are, to the west, the Croatian mountain ranges and, to the east, the Bosnian middle ranges. Here begins the famous Una river which offers just a small taste of the many amazing and untouched sights found in this landscape. The area also hosts more national parks than are to be found anywhere else in Croatia.
